Overview
Bioptimus, based in Paris and founded in 2024 by Owkin alumni, is the French startup behind H-optimus-0, an open pathology foundation model with 1.1 billion parameters. H-optimus-0, released in 2024, and H-optimus-1 are steps towards what the company calls a universal biology foundation model, starting from histology. OnCo links it to the H-optimus technology record. Whether a model that starts from histology can grow into a general model of biology, as the company intends, is the open question.
