FDPS (Farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase) is an enzyme. The public catalogues list it as a drug target, and an approved or late-stage drug is recorded against it. Tied to Prostate cancer, Multiple myeloma and Breast cancer. This dossier gathers the 0 products (0 approved), 0 trials, 0 pathways and 0 resistance routes in the corpus that involve it, with external identifiers so it can be joined to UniProt, ChEMBL, Open Targets and the rest of biology.
Key enzyme in isoprenoid biosynthesis which catalyses the formation of farnesyl diphosphate (FPP), a precursor for several classes of essential metabolites including sterols, dolichols, carotenoids, and ubiquinones. FPP also serves as substrate for protein farnesylation and geranylgeranylation. Catalyses the sequential condensation of isopentenyl pyrophosphate with the allylic pyrophosphates, dimethylallyl pyrophosphate, and then with the resultant geranylpyrophosphate to the ultimate product farnesyl pyrophosphate. Location: Cytoplasm (UniProt). Locus 1q22 (HGNC).
