He leads CIRCULATE-Japan, the largest circulating tumour DNA-guided adjuvant programme in colorectal cancer, comprising the GALAXY, VEGA and ALTAIR studies, as well as the PARADIGM trial of first-line panitumumab and the gastrointestinal arm of SCRUM-Japan. His publications include the GALAXY analysis of molecular residual disease and the efficacy of adjuvant chemotherapy in colorectal cancer, and the PARADIGM comparison of panitumumab and bevacizumab added to first-line chemotherapy in left-sided RAS wild-type metastatic disease. He is one of the most influential figures in colorectal cancer research. He is President of the Japanese Society of Medical Oncology and Professor at Keio University School of Medicine, and has driven large genomic screening platforms for gastrointestinal cancers in Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.","asOf":"2026-09-08","links":[{"label":"National Cancer Center Hospital East","url":"https://www.ncc.go.jp/en/ncce/index.html"},{"label":"PubMed author
