Infantile haemangiomas are the commonest tumours of infancy and most need no treatment, but those threatening vision, breathing or feeding, or ulcerating, respond within weeks. Propranolol has since been studied in angiosarcoma and other vascular cancers on the same rationale, without approval. Low blood sugar, slow heart rate and low blood pressure are the main risks in infants.","status":"established","asOf":"2026-09-08","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propranolol","links":[{"label":"Label (DailyMed)","url":"https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/search.cfm?labeltype=all&query=propranolol%20hydrochloride%20oral%20solution"},{"label":"Drugs@FDA NDA 205410","url":"https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cder/daf/index.cfm?event=overview.process&ApplNo=205410"}],"tags":["gap-fill","supportive-care"],"related":[],"cancers":["sarcoma"],"sections":[],"technologies":["supportive-care"],"targets":["vegf"],"drugs":[],"companies":["pierre-fabre"],"institutions":[],"pathways":[],"terms":[],"trials":["nct07125391","nct05741164"],"people":[],"bottlenecks":[],"keyPapers":[],"journals":[],"dependsOn":[],"notes":[],"brand":"Hemangeol","modality":"Small-molecule non-selective beta-adrenergic blocker, oral solution","mechanism":"Blocks beta-adrenergic receptors on the endothelial cells of a proliferating haemangioma, causing vasoconstriction, lower VEGF signalling and apoptosis of the abnormal vessels.","approvals":[{"region":"US","year":2014,"indication":"Proliferating infantile haemangioma requiring systemic therapy"}],"mechanismSteps":[],"toxicity":[],"access":[],"regulatoryEvents":[]},"route":"/drugs/propranolol-hemangeol/","neighbours":{"cancer":[{"id":"sarcoma","kind":"cancer","name":"Sarcomas (soft tissue, bone, GIST)","route":"/cancers/sarcoma/"}],"section":[{"id":"supportive-care","kind":"section","name":"Supportive Care & Survivorship","route":"/fronts/supportive-care/"}],"target":[{"id":"vegf","kind":"target","name":"VEGF / VEGFR","route":"/targets/vegf/"}],"company":[{"id":"pierre-fabre","kind":"company","name":"Pierre Fabre","route":"/companies/pierre-fabre/"}],"trial":[{"id":"nct07125391","kind":"trial","name":"Chemotherapy Combined With Propranolol Hydrochloride as Neoadjuvant Therapy for Advanced High-grade Serous Ovarian Cancer","route":"/trials/nct07125391/"},{"id":"nct03919461","kind":"trial","name":"Colorectal Metastasis Prevention International Trial 2","route":"/trials/nct03919461/"},{"id":"nct06145074","kind":"trial","name":"Examining Safety, Efficacy and Feasibility of Preoperative Propranolol in Patients With PDAC.","route":"/trials/nct06145074/"},{"id":"nct07549906","kind":"trial","name":"Neoadjuvant Iparomlimab/Tuvonralimab Plus CAPEOX Versus Iparomlimab/Tuvonralimab Plus CAPEOX and Propranolol for Locally Advanced pMMR Colon Cancer: A Prospecti","route":"/trials/nct07549906/"},{"id":"nct05741164","kind":"trial","name":"Propranolol and Pembrolizumab for Tumor Re-sensitization and Treatment of Patients With Checkpoint Inhibitor Refractory Metastatic or Unresectable Triple Negative Breast Cancer","route":"/trials/nct05741164/"}]}}
