It randomised 245 patients to surgery with or without hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, improved overall survival without increasing serious complications, and the benefit held at ten-year follow-up published in Lancet Oncology in 2023. OnCo links it to ovarian cancer, HIPEC and PIPAC intraperitoneal chemotherapy, the Netherlands Cancer Institute, Willemien J. van Driel and the pairing of HIPEC at interval surgery.
