## TL;DR

UK Biobank is the richest population cohort for linking genes, blood and imaging to who later develops cancer.

## Summary

UK Biobank is the richest population cohort available for linking genes, blood and imaging to who later develops cancer. It holds half a million participants with genomes, imaging, proteomics and linked cancer registry and hospital records; whole-genome sequencing of all 500,000 participants was completed in 2023, Olink proteomics covers 3,000 proteins, and repeat imaging is under way. Researchers use it for polygenic risk, proteomic early detection and pretraining foundation models on healthy tissue. Access is for approved researchers, and the resource is maintained by UK Biobank Ltd, a charity. It is referenced by the technologies Biobanking and tissue procurement and Proteomics instruments and affinity platforms, and by the prevention roadmap.
