## TL;DR

The UK charity that built specialist hospital units and nursing for teenagers and young adults with cancer, so that they are treated alongside their peers rather than on children's or elderly wards.

## Summary

Teenage Cancer Trust was founded in 1990 to change how young people with cancer are treated in the NHS. It funds and runs specialist units inside NHS hospitals, employs specialist nurses and youth support coordinators, and campaigns for age-appropriate care for 13 to 24 year olds, an age band whose cancers are rare and often diagnosed late. Its annual concerts at the Royal Albert Hall are its best-known fundraiser. Stephen Sutton's 2014 campaign, which raised more than £5 million for the charity, remains the largest individual fundraising story in its history.
