## TL;DR

GTx was a Memphis biotech that developed selective androgen receptor modulators, including enobosarm for cancer-related muscle wasting and breast cancer, before merging with Oncternal Therapeutics in 2019.

## Summary

GTx Incorporated, founded in 1997 in Memphis, Tennessee, worked on selective androgen receptor modulators and toremifene. Its phase 3 POWER trials tested enobosarm against muscle wasting in non-small cell lung cancer, and later studies explored it in androgen receptor-positive breast cancer; a toremifene programme for prostate cancer patients on androgen deprivation was also taken to phase 3. GTx merged with Oncternal Therapeutics in 2019. Its trials remain on ClinicalTrials.gov under GTx as lead sponsor. Wikipedia records that GTx licensed toremifene from Orion, partnered it with Ipsen in 2006 to prevent prostate cancer in men on androgen deprivation, received an FDA rejection in 2009 and sold the rights to ProStrakan, a Kyowa Hakko Kirin subsidiary, in 2012.
