## Summary

EvolutionaryScale, based in New York, was spun out of Meta's protein research team and makes ESM3, the protein language model that generated a new fluorescent protein. ESM3, published in Science in 2025, is a 98-billion-parameter generative model over protein sequence, structure and function, with open weights for its smaller variants, and it is used for antibody and enzyme design. OnCo links it to the ESM3 technology record. Whether generative protein models produce cancer therapeutics that reach patients, rather than impressive demonstrations, is the open question.
